The cosmos is a vacuum
so, even when stars explode,
there’s…silence.
But on this unhappy planet
there’s a cacophony
of screeching lights,
and the tormented cries
of the dying
filled with transcendental prayers
of the faithful
rising up in concrete canyons
trite as the Apostles’ Gospels,
or the Nicene Creed,
pleading for an understanding
in the uncertainty of death,
or at least a revelation
to break this silence from above.
But science tells us
the cosmos is a vacuum.

What a beautiful poem!
I love the title, "Sealed in Silence" and this line, "and the tormented cries of the dying". Sadly, nobody seems to talk in the news or even on Facebook or Twitter about "the dying", they are only numbers and statistics for many. This poem commemorates them.
