Falling Into You
By E. Izabelle Cassandra Alexander
If I let myself, I’d fall,
for you
It would be easy,
when I look into your soul
through your dark, attentive eyes
as you see me
I listen to each word that escapes your lips,
openness, intelligence, integrity
The sound of your voice soothes, and
your perfect smile, inviting, pulls me in
and incites me to let go,
but would you do the same?
If we unlocked our hearts to love
and unearthed all our inhibitions,
would we have a chance to last
or burn intensely
only for a short time,
like fireflies illuminating the night sky?
A flooding river, my emotions can surge,
yet I need to keep them at bay
I want more than a fleeting flirtation,
so I must tread slowly and walk gingerly
and hope that when I let myself fall,
You would catch me—
